Questions and Answers about Using the TE101 TWS Self-fitting OTC Hearing Aid

1. Question:

"There is a clear buzzing sound. He had me wear them and showed me this. It is a clear buzzing sound that you can always hear.

We tried every setting, but the noise was always there.

Also, he could hear his own voice."

Answer:

① The human voice is a low-frequency sound, and everyone's hearing perception of low-frequency sounds varies. Some people with mild low-frequency hearing loss are more sensitive to their own voice and pick up their own voice more quickly. For those with more severe hearing loss, low-frequency sounds may feel flatter.

The TE101 hearing aids allow users to adjust their frequency settings. If you prefer not to use the app, the hearing aids themselves can also provide hearing compensation for mild hearing loss.

② Some hearing aids enhance low- or mid-frequency sounds, while others tend to balance different frequency bands. Hearing aids with greater bass gain (as this one does) are designed to improve speech clarity. They amplify more low-frequency sounds, allowing users to perceive the richness of speech. However, they may cause discomfort to some first-time users, especially with the "buzzing" or "own voice" effect, which does not affect the overall hearing aid's effectiveness.

③ OTC hearing aids all have an adaptation period (ranging from a few days to a few weeks). When rechargeable hearing aids are first worn, they amplify both ambient and personal sounds, significantly changing the user's hearing experience. Initially, some noises may seem overly prominent, but as the adaptation process progresses, the brain gradually adapts to the new sound input and re-recognizes and interprets both the user's own voice and external sounds, ultimately restoring clear speech comprehension.

Note:

New hearing aid users are those who have switched from a different manufacturer or model, or are completely new to hearing aids.

If you can hear your own voice, this indicates ear blockage, meaning "low-frequency sound is normal (sensitive), but mid- and high-frequency sound is poor." We recommend choosing an external hearing aid (RIC). The Retekess TE201 is a basic RIC hearing aid suitable for moderate hearing loss. It's simple to operate, and its large buttons make it very convenient for older people.

2. Question:

"When I applied the settings to the hearing aid itself, I found that I still could not hear the TV sound satisfactorily."

Answer:

The sound of a TV set typically has a mid-frequency highlight between 300Hz and 3000Hz. Some users have high-frequency hearing loss. When using the hearing aid's adaptive function, the gain compensation tends to favor high frequencies over mid-frequency sound.

You can enable the equalizer function in the app's personalization settings to increase the gain at 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz to compensate for unclear hearing while watching TV.

If you spend most of your time wearing your hearing aids watching TV, you might consider the TE201 hearing aids, which come with a dedicated TV mode for worry-free viewing.

3. Question:

"I turned up the volume very high and opened and closed the charging box. The sound of closing the charging box caused a huge feedback scream, and I had to quickly take the earphones out of my ears."

Answer:

If your TWS hearing aid produces a whistling sound, please check that the eartips are properly inserted. If the whistling sound persists after confirming that they are properly inserted, try replacing them with eartips that fit your ears. Different eartips may fit different sizes in your left and right ears. If the whistling sound persists, lower the volume until you feel comfortable.
